I have finally finished the Blue Star blanket that I began working on in January as a present for my Mom. I was hoping to finish it for Mother's Day and that day came and went. I finished it last night and will give it to my Mom on Sunday 6/1, her birthday. Here is the picture.

Crochet cuff, originally uploaded by bean.zilla.

I crocheted this tonight while watching Dr. Who and Battlestar Galactica. No specific pattern, just a bunch of half double crochet stitches in white and then multicolor cotton yarn. I used a G hook. It is comfy :)

I think last time I posted I was just going for 1000 preemie hats by 9/21.  Once I got about 112 hats I started making booties to go with them.  I got to about 150 hats and about 40 booties then started making mittens!!!
I reset the "hat count" and I don't think I'll have 1000 hats by my goal date now!  hahah!  I'm having fun trying to make more each week then I did the week before.

I'm going to post the photos on one page then just x-post the link so I don't flood up your friends page.

Preemie outfits.

I learned a little bit of crochet when I was younger and with the help of my grandmother. She's been gone for about 17 years now, and I just picked up crocheting again about 3 years ago. I made a scarf for my sister with the leftover yarn from my grandmothers stash. I then began a huge project which took, on and off about two years. I also made a throw for my sister and her fiance for Christmas. I also did a few preemie hats that were donated to a hospital.

I guess I like making blankets/throws, so I've started another project that has a star like pattern of wholes.

I saw the post from janusmalone and wanted to say that both my fiance and my future father-in-law crochet. :-)

Hi everyone!  My name is Melanie.  I've been crocheting off and on for about 10 years.  10 years and really, all I ever made was blankets.  I love the way sweaters look and there are SO other many things to crochet, but in the end I always went with a blanket.  I just started making hats because a male friend of mine asked if I would teach him how to make one.  I have never told anyone no when they asked me to teach them to crochet but now someone is asking me to teach them something I didn't even know how to do!  To top it off it's a MALE and we gotta get more males "hookin".   So I found a hat pattern, made a hat and then taught him.  He went home and taught 3 of HIS friends all MALE!  Ohh to only have been a fly on the wall that night!

Since then I got another friend of mine making hats now which is GREAT!  Not only was she like me (only ever made blankets) she REFUSED to learn how to do even a single crochet!  (yeah she's a bit screwy in the head but I'm pretty sure all yarn people are)

Before I got I'll explain the blanket.  It was made about a year ago.  I had seen a baby blanket in a pattern kind of like this in a pattern book.  I did more of a granny square for this instead of the pattern in the book but the same basic look is there.

Sorry I haven't figured out how to do that fancy "pictures behind the link" stuff yet.  I'm not so good on computers!   Thanks for reading.  I love checking out all of the posts, everything is so beautiful!
